What could be better than watching an early screening of Disney’s new MOANA? Watching MOANA with my favorite girls on the beach of Disney’s Polynesian Resort after meeting MOANA herself and screenwriter Jared Bush!
This all happened this past weekend at the Polynesian Resort inside Walt Disney World Resort. My girls were giddy with excitement as we waited in line to enter the luau area at the Polynesian. Did you know the Polynesian Village Resort is celebrating 45 years?
Once inside we enjoyed a delicious meal featuring mahi mahi, chicken, rice, vegetables, bread, and a delicious array of desserts.
After dinner we took advantage of the beautiful backdrops and snapped photos of the girls. We also walked around outside to enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights the resort had on display throughout the trees. Disney always goes above and beyond with their gorgeous decorations all year long.
Disney is truly magical. We were given some extra magical pixie dust with a huge surprise! A visit from MOANA herself and the screenwriter, Jared Bush.
Jared Bush is also known for his work on Zootopia, another one of my favorite Disney movies…. pretty sure all Disney movies are my favorite, but Zootopia is pretty darn close to the top. However, now that I have experienced MOANA I’m afraid I have yet another favorite!
We took a quick tour of the Polynesian Resort Bungalows which are completely amazing. I’m going to save all those details for another post. These gorgeous suites definitely deserve their very own post. So much to tell!
Ahhh the huge movie screen….on the beach…at the Polynesian Resort. Such a perfect place to enjoy MOANA. Popcorn in one hand, hot chocolate in the other, we were ready. We were entertained by the Disney Parks Blog and caught a few previews of upcoming movies including Beauty and the Beast and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Another amazing film I can’t wait to watch!
Next…the main event… MOANA
ABOUT: An adventurous teenager sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.
What a perfect film to take my girls to. Especially my teenage daughter and her friend. They are knee deep in their own teenage identity searching right now. Making big decisions and figuring out just who they are and what they want to do. MOANA teaches a lesson that I know these girls will never forget. Do what you love. Don’t give up. Be your own person. Live your dream. Whoops, that is four lessons. And it doesn’t stop there. MOANA has both the intelligence and wisdom, even as a teenager, to respect her people’s traditions, yet she is brave enough to follow what her heart is telling her to do.
I give this film a huge thumbs up for adults and kids of all ages. Why the PG rating? There are a few frightening moments where even my 8 year old covered her eyes for a moment, but it was no more scary than the snow monster in Frozen. She covered her eyes and bounced right back with a huge smile and tons of giggles.
