ARE YOU READY for a BLAST from the past??!! Disney Channel has released it’s 100th Original Movie, Adventures in Babysitting. Tomorrow, June 24th, do not miss the television premiere of Adventures In Babysitting, which will air at 8pm EDT on the Disney Channel. The Vice President of Disney Channel original movies, Naketha Mattocks, put it very well when she said “this one is twice the babysitters, twice the fun!” I could not agree more.
I not only had the chance to check out an advanced screening, but I also had the privilege to interview the two main stars of the movie, Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson. These two talented young women filled us in on all the behind the scenes fun and the work that went in to creating the movie.
We asked the girls what it was like on set. “It was great…no no it was a terrible time…We really dislike each other!” Of course they were kidding and continued to tell us about their fellow cast members. “The five kids are some of the most talented people you’d ever know. And they were so professional, and they were such a joy to work with. I wish I could babysit them.”

The girls told us they were like a big family. They would have parties every weekend. There would be singing and dancing, karaoke, and improv games.
Of course we had to ask about their personal babysitting experiences. Did they have any funny stories??? “I have no funny stories! Like, we got ice cream. I got chocolate. They got strawberry, and they went to sleep. And it was very easy. Nothing like what we experienced in this movie. There were no ferrets involved whatsoever. But once I locked a babysitter out of the house. I didn’t really like her. And me and my sisters….well, it was me and my two older sisters. You know, they were older. They probably could have babysat me anyways. But yeah. She wasn’t a great babysitter, though. I will say that, because she brought over her boyfriend.”
Had you seen the original movie before and how did your involvement come about?
Sabrina: Absolutely. Disney kind of came to both Sofia and I and we auditioned with each other. It worked. We’re very lucky that it worked out perfectly.
Sofia:I did see the movie. I was a big fan. My mom was a big fan of the movie. So to be able to create a new version of such a classic, beloved tale for this new generation, was something I was honored to do. And it was an incredible experience. Apparently, I have a thing with, like, sequels, and remakes.
Sabrina: Apparently me, too.
You mentioned you were only 15 when the movie was shot, but you were able to drive?
Sabrina: I got to pretend drive…
Sofia: She did it! She did it.
Sabrina: She would go. Sabrina, go right. Go left! I would take my hands off the wheel or forget to turn on my turn signal, ’cause I don’t drive.
Did you take any of the clothes when the shoot was over?
Sabrina: I took Jenny’s bra home.
Sofia: I took Lola’s bra home, too. When you find a good bra, man.
About the movie
Jenny (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lola (Sofia Carson) are rival babysitters who team up after one of the kids that they are babysitting sneaks out. This leads them into a very eventful and entertaining adventure through the city. The two babysitters could not be more different.
Jenny is a “goody two-shoes” focusing on her grades and achievements to be sure she gets into an amazing college.
While Lola is an artsy free spirit looking to follow her passion of photography.
Put them together and you have an amazing teen duo! Through all of their trials during their adventure, these two, whether they realize it or not, they complement one another nicely.
Great for the whole family…
This movie is perfect for family movie night. First, it’s G-rated, which is a HUGE plus for this mom. As we all know, the shows offered to our children these days seem to be borderline inappropriate. Not the case with this fun, family friendly, fun for the entire family movie. The antics are there, and they will make both kids and adults laugh. For example, Bobby (played by Jet Jurgensmeyer) accidentally sets the kitchen on fire. Meanwhile, the washing machine overflows. And the white, recently groomed prized pup gets covered in tomato sauce. Also, there is a great lesson in the movie. Great friendships can blossom between polar opposites!!
