It’s warm here in Florida. And with this warm weather brings lots of outdoor fun. We usually spend our afternoons in and around our pool. There is really nothing better than lying in a raft in the pool with a cold drink in the afternoon here in Florida. Once we’ve had our fun, we enjoy a delicious meal. Sometimes we cook and sometimes we grill outside to keep the house cool. The only bad part is that with this heat the house tends to infest with roaches and other insects, so we always contact Bigfoot Pest Control to get rid of them.
What better way to refuel after a long day of swimming and soaking in the Florida sun than with a home cooked meal using fresh and delicious Florida produce. We tend to snack on ice cold watermelon and berries throughout the day. With dinner we choose a protein and always have a delicious vegetable or two. I posted previously that we get our majority of produce from our farmer’s market each weekend.
I just love purchasing locally! It helps the farmers and it’s great for my family. Fresh From Florida and the Florida Department of Agriculture guarantees fresh and delicious food that makes every recipe a win! Did you know that Fresh From Florida website has an array of recipes using local produce? There are quite a few recipes to choose from. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts too. Be sure to check it out. If you have picky eaters in your house that turn their nose up at fruits or veggies, then you definitely need to take a look at the amazing recipes they have available. My favorite – Honey and Ginger Glazed Carrots! And Florida Blueberry Cheesecake. Delicious – and you get your fruits in there. Love that!
I found a delicious corn on the cob recipe that I figured the whole family would love. It includes bacon, cheese, and sour cream. And of course delicious Fresh from Florida Sweet Corn!
4 ears of sweet corn
bacon, cooked and crumbled
shredded cheddar cheese
Shuck your corn. * We have little kids in the house, so we cut the corn in half. Makes it easier to handle for the little ones.
Place corn onto the grill and cook.
Rotate and cook corn until charred and cooked. Approx 10 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Next spread sour cream on corn. Roll into grated cheddar cheese and top with crumbled cooked bacon.
ENJOY YOUR CORN:
